Types Of English Setters

English Setters are natural hunters and are sporting dogs. In previous years, they were used by hunters to help them catch prey like birds. Accordingly, these dogs have good stamina and agility and are independent and intelligent. 

These dogs are classified into two: the Llewellin (or Llewellin-type) and the Laverack (or the Laverack-type). Are you interested to know more about these types? Here are the summarized details:

Llewellin:

• This type is bred for the field.

• They have very little feathering with less coat but long hair on the belly, tail, and legs.

• They have better hunting skills.

• The name came from the British man who developed them. 

Laverack:

• The name was from the name of the first English Setter breeder – Edward Laverack.
