Maltese Coat Color And Grooming

Updated: Feb 1, 2023

Maltese dogs have stunning, pure white, straight, and silky coats that flow to the ground. They also lack undercoats and do not shed a lot. However, their coats can easily form mats and get dirty; not to mention the tear stains.

If your fur baby is long-haired and easily forms mats, what you need to do first is to gently remove the mats using your fingers. In this, it's recommended to use conditioning oil for the coat or detangler sprays. After pulling apart the mats using your fingers, you should now get a comb and then use its end tooth to further loosen each of your dog's hair. Remember, you should not pull the whole matted hair at once using the brush or comb. In addition, be sure there are no mats anymore before bathing, as mats get tighter when they're wet.

Any problem affecting your pet's skin and/or hair coat should require a visit to your pet clinic Omaha, NE.
